Now Hiring: Lopez Food Share Operations Coordinator

“Food Justice is Social Justice”

The Lopez Island Food Share is a food bank committed to preventing hunger and building a more resilient hunger relief network in our rural, remote community. We strive to provide equitable access to high quality food, and firmly believe that food justice is social justice. We believe that systemic racism cannot be separated from issues like poverty and food insecurity, and therefore center those who are Black, Indigenous, and People of Color in our work. We envision and are committed to cultivating a community where all people have access to high quality food, no matter their age, physical ability, race, gender, sexuality, or socio-economic status.

The Lopez Food Share is seeking to hire an Operations Coordinator to help accomplish this mission. To help maintain and grow our programs, the Operations Coordinator position will oversee daily activities related to the Food Share, such as ordering, food safety oversight, storage and inventory, volunteer coordination, and other day to day tasks. Joining our team gives you the opportunity to work with food banks on the cutting edge of our profession. As a food bank oriented towards resilience, we collaborate with local farms to supply fresh, high quality produce and meat. We aim to advance equity within all areas of our food bank and deliver high quality, culturally relevant food that is desirable and nutritious. We are seeking someone who wants to work within this environment in a community facing role, upholding the values of LIFRC while pushing the boundaries of what food banking looks like.

As well as being responsible for day to day operational tasks, this position will work in collaboration with the Community Supports Director, Food Programs Manager, AmeriCorps intern, and other staff to strengthen, expand, and develop the Food Share program, particularly in relation to:

· Evolving community needs

· Diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts

· Program systems related to data tracking, daily operations, and client relations

· Volunteer coordination and appreciation

· Partnerships in the hunger relief network

· Public relations
