Update: The Low Income Housing Energy Assistance Program is CLOSED for the 2009/2010 winter season. Please check back in November 2010 for updates for the 2010/2011 winter season.

Energy Assistance and Weatherization Programs: This is an outstanding program offered through our office in conjunction with the Opportunity Council. It provides assistance with home heating costs (wood, propane, electric and/or oil) for qualified households. Individuals, seniors and families are eligible. Each year we are allotted a specific amount of slots for awards.  We will schedule interviews once funding is received in the fall. There are also programs through the Opportunity Council that can help you weatherize your home and get a new refrigerator! Call the Resource Center at 468-4117 for more details. Some sample qualifying Gross Income levels for 2009/2010 are shown below:

Household size of 2:    Maximum Gross  Monthly $1458
Household size of 4:    Maximum Gross  Monthly $2208

Project Pal Program: OPALCO offers an energy assistance program for qualified families with an OPALCO (i.e. Electric) account.  If OPALCO members are having difficulty paying their electric bill during the heating season, they can apply for assistance up to $250. The Program will start up again for next season around November.  Check back for more information or call the Family Resource Center at 468-4117.
